Tony Matharu, founder and Chairman of Blue Orchid Hospitality, has been named Global Entrepreneur of the Year at the British Asian Who's Who Awards 2026 - one of the most prestigious recognitions of achievement within the British Asian community.
The award was presented at a distinguished ceremony attended by leading figures from business, politics, and media, as part of an evening dedicated to recognising excellence, innovation, and leadership across the British Asian community.
Tony was honoured for his entrepreneurial vision, his leadership in delivering world-class hospitality experiences, and his longstanding commitment to social responsibility, spanning charitable initiatives, educational opportunities, and community development projects in both the UK and internationally.
The judging panel highlighted his ability to combine sustained commercial success with a genuine commitment to creating lasting positive social impact, through job creation, urban regeneration, and initiatives that empower individuals and strengthen communities around the world.
The awards also marked the unveiling of the Power 100 British Asians List 2026, celebrating the most influential British Asians shaping the future of the United Kingdom and beyond. This year saw a record 7,820 nominations received, a reflection of the remarkable breadth of achievement within the British Asian community and its significant contribution to the UK's economic, cultural, and social landscape.
